In an exciting development, the Saco River Wildlife Center proudly announced the acquisition of 57 Christian Hill Road in April 2023. This marks a significant milestone for the organization, which has experienced a rapid increase in the number of wildlife treated since its founding in 2015. The expansion comes as a necessity, as the center has outgrown its current space in founder Bethany Brown’s basement. The new facility, nestled on 16 acres of land, represents a crucial step forward in the commitment to wildlife conservation and rehabilitation.

Expansion Details:

Phases One: COMPLETED

  • Clearing out the home
  • Inspections + estimates

Phase Two (Current):

  • Foundation work
  • Renovations

Renovation Details:

The ongoing renovations in phase two are aimed at transforming the space into a fully functional and efficient wildlife care facility. The focus is on the downstairs area, and the tasks include:

  • Insulation installation
  • Sheetrocking the walls and ceilings
  • Electrical wiring
  • HVAC
  • Making the bathroom fully functional, including a shower
  • Piping for water supply

Current Fundraising Goal:

To bring this expansion project to fruition, the Saco River Wildlife Center has set a fundraising goal of $250,000. This amount will cover the costs of completing the ongoing renovations and ensuring that the new facility meets the highest standards for wildlife care.
